Gecko.

[Broken image]
Evening, this is Andy.
[Hokkaido-dialect greeting, "oban desu".]

It's abrupt but

Yesterday, for the first time in my live I saw a gecko.

It was casually hanging on to the car so I was pretty surprised.

It's also a shock that a gecko, which is supposed to protect the home, was protecting the car.
[In Japanese, the word for gecko means "home protector"]

But

Perhaps

That wasn't a gecko

I can't deny that it might have been a newt.

However

Newts protect wells, so newts
[In Japanese, the word for newt means "well protector"]

Are however hard to think of as being on land...

The more I think about it

The mystery gets deeper.

With that, until a little while ago I was in Shimokitazawa to see an acquaintance's live.

I can't deny that I somehow have the feeling I'm coming to Shimokitazawa a lot this month to see lives.

Every-day diligence.

It must be exactly that.

Yeah,

It's like that.

Maou -taidou-

Lyrics: Jojo Music: Andy
From Maou
Translation: Ku & Chiva
The Devil -fetal movement-1

Two... Three... Five... Seven...2
When the sun and moon eat each other You can faintly hear the stars' fetal movement
Two... Three... Five... Seven...
Covered in amniotic fluid I laugh While hugging my knees quietly in the basement
A vulgar dream that I've seen I was born beneath the gallows
A vulgar dream that I've seen oh, beautiful destruction once more...
Two... Three... Five... Seven...

1 The Maou series of songs is a critique of war, centered around WWII.

2 Counting in prime numbers is in homage to the manga, "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean," in which the main villain counts prime numbers to calm himself down. Jojo is a huge fan of the manga series, and the prime number counting is characteristic to the Maou song series.

1 The Maou series of songs is a critique of war, centered around WWII.

2 The original phrase is Namu Amida Butsu, which is a mantra called the "Nenbutsu" and is from the Pure Land Sect of Japanese Buddhism. The belief is that one only has to utter it before death to enter the Pure Land -- heaven, in a nutshell.

3 This line is symbolic; in WWII, the young kamikaze pilots were referred to as flowers, specifically with the image of a fleeting cherry blosoom in mind. The veru "chiru," to fall, refers literally to the way the petals fall from trees and are blown away in the wind, but also metaphorically refer to the way the pilots died.

4 Counting in prime numbers is a nod to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean, in which the main antagonist counts prime numbers as a way to calm himself down.

The Devil -burial-1

The warmth of the stars is pleasant The explosions I'm already tired of hearing The corpses I'm tired of seeing
I am jealous of the shining sun and the word "happiness"

The head of the Madonna2 glares at me The sound of the decadent bells rings out
The lingering scent is chocolate A new rebirth A requiem sung in a sore voice
The black rain mercilessly soaks my cheeks Surely this is a parting gift for my foolish self
The black rain mercilessly soaks my cheeks Even though "You can be happy" is a lie
One... three... five... seven...3
Under the undone, falling grey sky Everything’s tainted with lies
Under the undone, falling grey sky I notice that I am gradually eroding
The black rain mercilessly soaks my cheeks Surely this is a parting gift for my foolish self
The black rain mercilessly soaks my cheeks Even though "You can be happy" is a lie
The sad rain shows no mercy Is this really a parting gift for my foolish self?
The rain of sorrow won't go easy on me Even though "You can be happy" is a lie
I am jealous of the shining sun and the word "happiness"

1 The Maou series of songs is a critique of war, centered around WWII.

2 This is referring to The Madonna of Nagasaki, which was scorched in the bombing WWII. The bells in the next line probably reference to Urakami Cathedral where the statue is located.

3 Counting in prime numbers is a nod to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean, in which the main antagonist counts prime numbers as a way to calm himself down.
