As you may be aware, our site was down for a little while recently. This was just due to our domain expiring. All the site contents are still active. Our previous domain, kuroi-ondori.com, has now been disabled and you can reach the site here: kuroi-ondori.blogspot.com.
Some links on the site may still reference kuroi-ondori.com and so they may not work. If you run into these links, just replace kuroi-ondori.com in your URL bar with kuroi-ondori.blogspot.com, and you should be taken to the correct page. Again, all linked content contained within this website still exists, it just may be a little hard to get to.
All the admins here lead very busy lives and don't have much free time or motivation to continue work on this site. This means there very well may not be many updates or any updates at all in the future, but as long as we are still hosted on blogger, our current contents will be kept available.

God save me2
When the sun and the full moon cannibalised one another, from his corpse, you could hear the the star's3 fetal movement
God save me
I was born at the gallows that were covered with black pearl studded skulls
Smeared with your amniotic fluid, love, I laugh Smeared with excrement below the gallows, I sing of love
Smeared with your amniotic fluid, love, I laugh Smeared with excrement below the gallos, I sing of dreams
I sing of the world's demise
1The Maou series of songs is a critique of war, centered around WWII.
2The original phrase is Namu Amida Butsu, which is a mantra called the "Nenbutsu" and is from the Pure Land Sect of Japanese Buddhism. The belief is that one only has to utter it before death to enter the Pure Land -- heaven, in a nutshell.
3The made-up word used here "屠星" combines 屠る(to slaughter) and 星(star), slang for "perpetrator".

LUCIFERO Tracklist
The Discography page has been updated with LUCIFERO's tracklist! Please bear in mind that as of this writing the reading of track 11 is unconfirmed (but a pretty good guess). This is one of those words Jojo's made up, we reckon, so we'll need to hear it from him to know how to read it.
Thanks to June for upping the tracklist! ♥

Lyrics page renovation + discography page upped!
My work over the past week is finally finished with two major site updates --
- The lyrics page has been majorly simplified and listings have been arranged alphabetically instead of by release. I realize most people aren't going to have the releases' track lists memorized, and when you just want to find a song fast, alphabetical listings are the way to go.
- But don't worry -- detailed CD information has moved over to the newly-added Discography section! I've added more deets than we had before, including a "Special CDs" tab for releases that aren't an official part of the band's discography.
(Some of them get a bit hazy because of they're serialized but were released on a limited basis -- so this listing is fuzzy, but at least between the two tabs, should be complete!)
I'll continue to roll out updates to hopefully offer more and more, better, accurate information about the band, so stay tuned. Next on my list is a little break from the coding work to get some more lyrics in, so look forward to those!

New member + lyrics added!
Just this afternoon, support member Nov (previously nob) was announced as the newest member of THE GALLO. Starting today, he will be playing with the band officially from the kamite (lead guitar, stage-right) position. Wajow has already moved to shimote (rhythm guitar, stage-left).
Nov's profile has been added to the Members page, and I'll have the main graphic updated with the new group photo later today.
I've also added more lyrics and translations to the site -- head over to the Lyrics section to see all songs from Maou and Tokyo Cinderella in English, romaji, Japanese -- and in one case, Russian!

Notice Regarding Translations / Materials
If you've ever copied or referenced any materials from this site, please read this real quick.
I've found YouTube translators who have used our English translations as a base to translate into other languages, and I've found Facebook groups and fansites that have verbatim copy-pasted information from our website without notice or credit.
We've worked extremely hard over the past 4 years on the materials available on this website, and on keeping the website online and updated.
If you're going to use material from us on your blog, video, fansite, Facebook, or whatever -- at the very least please LINK back to kuroi-ondori.blogspot.com. Uncredited republication, or republication with a mention but no link, is unacceptable. At least link back to us, but we'd also love to hear from you if you're interested in using material from our website somewhere else. We're not disagreeable and are all about spreading the love for this band, but reposting content we've worked hard on without permission is just really not okay.
If you like our work enough to copy it around the internet we would really appreciate knowing it.
Most of what you're going to find here is not publicly available elsewhere. We did not copy content from any other fan, and much of the information/lyrics were posted or compiled by us before anyone else. Again, we've put a lot of work into this site.
* If you find materials somewhere that have been copied from our website without a link back, we'd also appreciate if you can link to that material in the comments of this post or let us know so we can look into these cases.
Thank you very much for your understanding.

Seeking Non-English Translations
It came to my attention today that there's a Thai translation of one of THE GALLO songs based on our transcription and romanization, and it got me thinking --
We've talked to good friends for a long time about adding other language translations to this blog, as a lot of THE GALLO's fans local in Japan speak languages other than English. A lot of this never came to fruition aside from a couple of Russian translations a friend did (which unfortunately aren't back online yet), but with the Thai translation, it's gotten me thinking about this topic again.
I'd like to add lyrics translations in a variety of languages for international fans all over the world so that even if they don't speak English, or if they don't speak it as well as their native language, they can enjoy THE GALLO's songs the same way we do -- with a full understanding of what's being said.
So, this is an open invite for foreign language translations. But, I do have a couple of conditions --
(1) Send me an Ask or Submission over on Tumblr if you're interested. Please don't just start sending translations; I do want to talk about things first! Do let me know what language you'll be translating into.
(2) For the sake of clarity and fluency, I'm only going to accept at this time translations from people who natively speak the target language. That is, for example, we need you to be a native speaker of Spanish, and not just studying Spanish. I want to make sure that the translations we provide are top-notch for the people relying on us for accurate, understandable lyrics!
(3) I strongly prefer people who are about a JLPT N2 level or higher when it comes to Japanese. I know it's easy to glance over Japanese text or pop things into a dictionary and think you know what's being said, but we pride ourselves on accuracy and depth of translations -- I want to know that you know what you're talking about in a translation, and not just winging it. Jojo's lyrics are full of historical references, difficult-to-read kanji, and adult themes. It's important that these things can be conveyed correctly to our site's visitors, and it's important that footnotes (like the ones we have all over our English translations) can easily be provided. As in, if you need to do research in Japanese to explain something (as we often do), you're capable of that.
(4) The above point kind of already implies it, but I want to say this clearly: we will not accept submissions based off of our English translations or any other language translations. We will only accept submissions based on the original Japanese. Again, you need to know and understand the source material.
For these reasons and more, we need translators to be working from the source Japanese matierals. (Which we can provide if they are not online on our site already. We have all lyric books and most lyrics already typed up in Japanese -- no problem.)
If you've stuck it out this far, thank you so much for considering this! And please don't be too scared by the above. If you're uncertain about any of the points, or not sure if your Japanese level is quite where we'd like it, please drop me a line where mentioned above. I'll be happy to discuss things with you!
(Of course, because of the difficulty of Jojo's lyrics even for folks who know Japanese well, there can sometimes be times where you might not know this or that from what's being said. My comod and I will be here for consultation if you ever need it, but we do want you to be capable of handling most translation on your own.)
**Of course, all translations will be credited and a link to the translator's website/blog/portfolio/whatever can also be posted if desired.**

- There are a lot of nuances that end up getting lost in our English translations.
- There are a lot of words that do not translate smoothly to English, but might have an equivalent in another language.
- There might be an idiom we used in English that you accidentally translate verbatim into your own language.
For these reasons and more, we need translators to be working from the source Japanese matierals. (Which we can provide if they are not online on our site already. We have all lyric books and most lyrics already typed up in Japanese -- no problem.)

Articles Update!
Though we have an awful lot of lyrics left to get through, the articles posts actually call for a lot less code -- meaning I was able to get the articles page and all its completed contents back online tonight!:
http://www.kuroi-ondori.com/p/articles.html
These are the old articles we already had online before the move, and doesn't, unfortunately, include anything new, though we've been working on several newer interviews. The band is just getting so many interviews lately that we've had a hard time keeping up or finishing translation projects!
Lyrics will most likely come before completed interviews, but feel free to continue commenting with requests for anything you're interested in seeing. I'm working through requests, but I do have a pretty busy life and am running this site almost solo now (my co-mod is even busier than I am!).
Requests may take some time to fill, but I will get to them!
Thanks for all the kind comments so far, and thanks for visiting!

Personal Interview - Jojo - SEVEN April 2016
Translated by Ku
—Please give us commentary for one song from the new full album, "DIAVOLO," released on March 2nd.
"Inma -BELPHEGOR-," in both lyrics and music, is a condensed version of THE GALLO's worldview. Regarding the lyrical content, I'm proud that it's a showpiece that gathers together the flow from "Muma -INCUBUS-" and "Muma -SUCCUBUS-." I'd like it if you would regard it as heresy to love songs.
—Please tell us about something to look for, a story, a scene you're particular about, or something that happened during the shooting of the MVs that were recorded at the same time* -- "Douma -BELIAL-" and "Inma -BELPHEGOR-."
"Douma -BELIAL-": I will sing my last song from the gallows for you, my beloved.
"Inma -BELPHEGOR-": The bedroom in the middle of the night is a utopia and the bed on a moonless night is an amusement park.**
* These were not actually recorded at the same time, as evidenced by the change in members' hair colors and styles. This is the interviewer's mistake, not a translation mistake.
** Both of his answers are lyrics from the respective o
—What is something to look out for at THE GALLO's lives?
Welcome to the foreign brothel, "The Black World."
—Please let us hear about a performance that left an impression on you from the sponsored [tour], "Kyokutou Kuro Shakai Rengou Daisensou," or your thoughts on it.
The bonds of solidarity between [us and] the assisting bands and audiences were an inspiration.
—Please recommend one song for those who haven't heard THE GALLO['s music].
"Muma -INCUBUS" → "DIAVOLO"
—Please tell about the main point of your current clothes and hair/makeup.
For clothes, the overall theme is a glittering surplice over complete blackness.
For makeup, it's the bizarre curl in my fringe and raunchy glittering lips.
—What got you involved in music; where are your roots? And, please tell us why you chose the part of vocalist.
My starting point was the SEX PISTOLS. I learned [music] with the rebellious spirit of punk rock. I decided to sing using my words as my weapon in order to express myself.
—Please offer a message of support to those who are beginning a new life this spring.
The Heisei* world is hell. However, we do not know the true Hell. Please be grateful that you were born into into an era of happiness.
* The current calendar era (as of this writing in 2016) is Heisei.
—Do you have a defining feature?
Affection
—Please tell us what your favorite chocolate is.
JEAN-PAUL HEVIN
—About your interest in toys -- please tell us just about your favorite item.
Along with my life in music, I posses all of the Super Action Statue as well as Statue Legend items, issued by the unchallenged leader, reputable Medicos*, which replicate "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure," which I've poured my affection into. If you are in possession of the Swarovski items**, please drop me a line or present them to me right away.***
* Medicos is a toy maker that makes the figure lines Jojo mentions; one is an action figure line, and the other is a high-quality figure line.
** There have been collaboration JJBA figures with Swarovski crystals; it's clear that Jojo doesn't own them and wants them badly. They're very rare and very expensive.
*** This whole response is written in extremely stiff formal writing, typical of Jojo in writing.
—What is THE GALLO to you?
Life
—Lastly, please give a message to the readers of SEVEN.
I cannot stand the exchange of shams sent out by fake music advocates. I would be glad if you would kindly satisfy yourself with the world of THE GALLO's new album "DIAVOLO" and sense the attitude therein of smashing our way through to the future. The world of THE GALLO plunges into a new chapter.

From DIAVOLO
ENGLISH
The devil rolls with laughter over the demise of the Empire of Japan1
God help me2
In a prison filled with stench an atrocious criminal is confined and keeps waiting for execution
Opening the iron door to No. 133, I wore a black hood and recited the nenbutsu4 Creaking up to the 13th floor, I'm cursed with glory from the gallows
Between the truth and the lies I kill my emotions and writhe I leave my hatred in my final5 excretion and head to hell
The devil rolls with laughter over the demise of the Empire of Japan
God help me
Opening the iron door to No. 13, I wore a black hood and recited the nenbutsu Creaking up to the 13th floor, I'm cursed with glory from the gallows
Between the truth and the lies I kill my emotions and writhe I leave my hatred in my final excretion and head to hell
God help me
In a coffin filled with madness the devil beckons me to hell ruled by darkness
1 The name of Japan before World War II. This line sets the song after the war.
2 The original phrase is Namu Amida Butsu, which is a mantra called the "Nenbutsu" and is from the Pure Land Sect of Japanese Buddhism. The belief is that one only has to utter it before death to enter the Pure Land -- heaven, in a nutshell.
3 This refers to a train and evokes imagery used in "Gokusaishiki Maressha-GA110-," which is about a train that carries people to hell. Jojo uses the ominous number 13 in several songs as an age, floor, address, and date (in "BOUTIQUE BEELZEBUB," "Akai Piano Sen," "Ijin Shoufukan Juusankai ・ Keshoushitsu" and "Koushudai," and "Yokohama Akasen Chitai Renzoku Ryouki Satsujin Jiken," respectively).
4 As mentioned, the "Nenbutsu" is the name of the phrase uttered to get into heaven.
5 The word "final" used here refers end of life. This line is surely referencing voiding one's bowels upon dying.
大日本帝國の終焉を悪魔が腹を抱えて嗤います
南無阿弥陀仏
異臭が充満した牢獄に凶悪な罪人が幽閉されて処刑を待ち続ける
拾参号鉄扉を開いて黒頭巾を被り念仏を唱えた 拾参階段が軋み上がり絞首台から栄光を呪いました
真実と虚偽の狭間で感情を殺して藻掻く 最期の排泄に憎悪を託して魔界へ向かう

Massacre Demon -ZIZ-
I send a rebel requiem to the grave markers in the starry sky
The humans who lost the war1 and drowned in fake peace look down and laugh
The humans who forgot their scars and believed in fake peace point and laugh
I hand the death penalty to depraved traitors
I realize that it's not worth protecting the humans who are betrayed by society and lay their blame, and I slaughter them
The humans who lost the war and drowned in fake peace look down and laugh
My war buddies are burning to death2 The enemy soldiers are burning to death Lives are burning to death
I realize that it's not worth protecting the humans who are betrayed by society and lay their blame, and I slaughter them
I spread my wings; unable to fly, I'll keep searching for my excuse for being born and a reason to fight
1 Almost certainly referring to WWII, and thus the Japanese people in general. The "fake peace" may be referencing the Occupation by US soldiers.
2 The verb pattern here is something Jojo has been using a lot in lyrics lately. The Japanese phrasing he uses would normally be used for a verb that has happened and is still in progress. However, he's used a select kanji in here where kanji should not be used, and though the reading is the same, the meaning is "to die." It's a bit of a double entendre, and I've tried to reflect that in English.
Jojo also has a preoccupation with people "burning" in his war lyrics; for context, consider that in WWII mainland Japan saw more firebombings than ground warfare.

Disaster Demon -BEHEMOTH-
At a concession in Shinjuku1 I bare my teeth fighting with Occupation soldiers2 morning and night
I make repeated threats while getting drunk on bombs3 at rock bottom4
The horse racing ticket I entrusted my future to defied Keishuu5 and swirls down the toilet
A song of great revolution echoes in Great Tokyo6 as we put victorious words to rhythm
At a concession in Shinjuku I bare my teeth at the world and plunge a knife into a prostitute
In the midst of the confusion I keep whistling and raping her
The horse racing ticket I entrusted my future to defied Keishuu and swirls down the toilet
A song of great revolution echoes in Great Tokyo as we put victorious words to rhythm
Born in an unhappy era I make a pact with the devil
Born in an unhappy era I sell my soul to the devil
I grab a faggot7 by the collar, snatch a syringe, and opt for the Philopon8
A song of great revolution echoes in Great Tokyo as we put victorious words to rhythm
The dream-devouring demons are hungry and lose their tempers
1 In other words, "settlement," of the colonial kind. However, the word Jojo's used here is specific to concessions in China, territories run by foreign governments. Further reading. This term (specifically, in conjunction with Shinjuku) is also used in SUCCUBUS as a setting.
2 After Japan's surrender in World War II, Allied forces (largely American) occupied Japan, from 1945-1952. It's natural that there would be some resentment towards the soldiers, as they were the enemy during the war. Further reading.
3 Jojo uses the kanji for "cheap liquor" but makes a clever pun here by singing "bombs" -- aside from the wartime implication, the Japanese word for "bomb" is also slang for alcohol-and-liqueur cocktails.
4 Note to non-native English speakers: "rock bottom" is an idiom that means that someone's life is about as bad as it can get. The Japanese translates more directly to "the bottom of poor," or the poorest or most meager someone could be. In short, the narrator of this song is not in a good place in life.
5 Keishuu NEWS was a newspaper that published technical data and predictions for horse races in southern Kanto. The newspaper launched in 1938, and relaunched in 1946 after the war (as newspapers were suspended during WWII).
6 "Great Tokyo" ("Dai-Tokyo") seems to have been a patriotic way of referring to Tokyo as the capitol of Japan (which was at the time known as the Great Empire of Japan) before the end of WWII.
7 In writing, the word used is "gigolo" but the sung word is okama, a slang or derogatory name for a gay man.
8 Philopon is the trademarked name for methamphetamine in Japan which came into use during WWII, before effects of the drug were well-studied. After the government released its military stockpile into circulation, it was increasingly blamed for violent crimes and was banned in 1951

Discarded in a back-alley trash pile, I was fascinated with the starry Tokyo sky
The big, fluttering snowflakes melted on my cheeks and I listened carefully to the ballad of winter
At the intersection where our fates passed by each other I shoulder my disappointment and stand still at the red light
Shoved into a Mercedes shining in the darkness, I scream and cry
Every time I'm defiled in an obscene rhythm tears cloud my tomorrow
I drown my unrequited love with vodka and sink in a sea of vomit
Every time I'm passed around in a captivating rhythm tears blur my tomorrow
I drown the love I want to forget with vodka and sink in a sea of vomit
